A moofable feast.

(Spoiler: Not a macro.)

Well, this is awkward. What do you do with a campaign-mocking-community when the campaign is over?

We only started pigsinlipstick a few short weeks ago. We would have used regular-length weeks, but the short ones were all we could afford, what with the state of the economy and all. At the time, President Obama's path to victory seemed anything but inevitable and so the possibility remained that the original community concept would keep fresh for at least four years.

From the start, there was an element of whistling in the dark to this community, and now we see the light at the end of the tunnel. Where do we go from here?

To start with, I think we should take the words of our President-elect to heart. I'm sure there are going to be all kinds of hilarious "parting shot" macros that are already being made, but really, do we need to that? We won. We all won. Let's be gracious. Senator McCain, for all his faults, acquitted himself very honorably in the final minutes of his campaign. That doesn't undo his behavior of the past months, obviously, and it doesn't change the fact that he holds positions that many of us disagree with... but we can't make him lose any harder at this point. Let's be big about this. Let's be classy.

Besides, we were all crying like babies during the "not red states and blue states, but United States" shpiel. Let's not deny it, and let's not make a mockery of those words. There will be plenty of other, more worthy things to mock in the months to come.

So, for the time being, let's play nice here... instead of images designed to cut the other side down, let's collect images that build us all up. Take a look at the last few entries if you don't know what I'm talking about.

It's a pigsinlipstick victory party, and we're all winners.

And for the future? No matter what anybody says, the phrase "pig on a lipstick" "lipstick on a pig"* did not refer to one woman. So for now, this community will be for celebrating the tremendous victory of November 4th, 2008. For the future, it will be whatever it needs to be. This is not the last time people in the sphere of governance will need a little deflating.

Thank you all, and God bless America.

*Whoops! Just a little celebratory commemorative gaffe.
